Telefónica Global Solutions (TGS), the global business unit of Telefónica, has implemented the Lightweight Monitoring System (LMS) by 5x9 Networks—an advanced active monitoring platform that strengthens its ability to deliver managed services with high standards of quality and reliability worldwide.

LMS provides end-to-end visibility into the performance of networks, services, and applications, allowing TGS to proactively identify and resolve potential degradations before they impact customers. With a modular, flexible, and highly automated architecture, LMS operates across multiple technological environments and integrates seamlessly with the advanced infrastructures managed by TGS.

“The implementation of LMS marks a key milestone in our strategy of operational excellence and proactive support,” said Serafín Borrego, Director of Network and Satellites at Telefónica Global Solutions. “It enables us to continuously monitor user experience quality and respond quickly to the dynamic demands of today’s digital environment,” he added.

One of LMS’s distinguishing advantages is its broad compatibility with heterogeneous hardware platforms, all pre-certified by 5x9 Networks. LMS probes can run on low-power Smart SFPs or on high-performance virtualized platforms, allowing TGS to select the optimal combination of capacity and efficiency for each operational scenario.

Additionally, the solution includes more than 30 specialized measurement modules, covering everything from network metrics (latency, throughput, jitter) to VoIP service quality, IPTV, web applications, DNS, VPN, and more. Its integration of artificial intelligence and machine learning enables early anomaly detection and intelligent alerts, optimizing resolution times and significantly reducing operational costs.

“Telefónica Global Solutions benefits not only from LMS’s technological robustness but also from its pragmatic, operations-oriented design,” stated Mario Jurcevic, CEO from 5x9 Networks. “It’s a solution that combines technical sophistication with ease of deployment and operation.”

With LMS, Telefónica Global Solutions reinforces its position as a benchmark in service quality and customer care, delivering a more predictable, controlled, and efficient digital experience for its clients—aligned with the demands of an increasingly virtualized and convergent environment.
