At 5×9 Networks, we’re committed to evolving our platforms to meet the dynamic needs of modern broadband providers. With the latest LNS (L2TP Network Server) capability added to our virtual BNG (vBNG), operators now gain a powerful new option for session termination, routing and control.

What’s New?

The vBNG now supports:
✅ Full LNS functionality for terminating PPP sessions over L2TP (RFC 2661)
✅ Seamless integration with remote LACs (e.g., DSLAMs, CMTS, other BNGs)
✅ Compatibility with AAA backends

New Functionality Availability

LNS support is available on all x86-based vBNG deployments, including Distributed, Appliance and One VM configurations. Optimized data plane acceleration (via DPDK) ensures high-throughput session handling without compromising control-plane flexibility. This feature is now part of the core vBNG offering and is available to all existing and future customers.

Why It Matters?

With LNS capabilities:

  • Operators can centralize PPP termination, simplify access architectures and improve scalability,
  • ISPs gain greater flexibility for wholesale, retail and roaming setups,
  • It enables migration from EoS/EoL legacy systems to modern x86-based architectures.

Whether you’re deploying nationwide access, interconnecting with third-party networks, or leveraging the LAC-LNS model for internal services, 5×9 vBNG with LNS simplifies session control and aligns with open, standards-based architectures.

Transparent Licensing, Operational Efficiency

As with all 5×9 products, the vBNG with LNS follows our transparent and fair licensing model – no surprises, just powerful features designed for high-performance, real-world environments.
